December is a very busy time for all, regardless of if you celebrate the holidays or not, December is for most a time of togetherness and family. For us December has been jam packed with family, friends and way too much day drinking! This unfortunately means that not a lot has been done this month, so rather than talking about the lack of progress we have made, we wanted to look back over 2024 and all the mile stones and progress. As well as a peak into what we have planned for 2025 with both Mythical Matchmaker and New Cubed.
The first thing we will be focusing on with Mythical matchmaker is a new direction for the art and narrative. Mythical Matchmaker has been in the works now for over a year, and in that time our lead artist Will has developed a new art style, meaning the new and old assets are visibly different. Because of this we want to give the old assets some TLC and a fresh coat of paint before release. Also because the game was originally meant to be in an arcade setting the narrative was non linear, meaning any level could be played at any time. However for the release we want to make it more linear to tell the story better, and to be more engaging. These changes require a lot of restructuring and reimagining of the original game idea, so a lot of thought and effort needs to be put in to make sure they meet our expectations.
The other main thing we want to overhaul is the soundscape, sound is a very big part of any game, and at the moment we only have a single track. The end goal would be to have an interactive track that would change based on things like the location, characters and score. We also want to add barks to the game, having characters audibly react to questions would add a lot to the player experience. As we mentioned before we have collaborated with some voice actors to lend us their talents, going forwards we are yet to go anywhere with our idea, and the sound comes second to the art and narrative, but we are making moves to figure out the logistics of both interative sound and voice acting.
Going into 2025 we want to continue doing as much exhibiting as we have done over the past year. Unfortunately in the UK there seem to be a decline in gaming expos and events. We have lost both E3 and WASD, 2 amazing opportunities to exhibit our game. However we will continue exhibiting at any chance we get, so keep your eyes peeled!
